An Introduction To Supper At The Family Table

Today I wanted to share with you all the story behind Supper At The Family Table and introduce you to myself.

A bit about myself…

I’m Bobbi, a country girl from southern West Virginia. I am Christian, I love studying God’s word and spending time with my Church family. I love to cook and bake from scratch and I am a nutrition coach. I am a country girl at heart, who loves gardening and homesteading. Most days you’ll find me out with my chickens and goats and hopefully one day cows and pigs. I love growing my own food in my garden in the summer and canning and preserving our harvest. Not only is the food higher quality and not sprayed or grown with chemicals but it also so rewarding to grow something yourself and then preserve it to be used for months to come.

The history…

How did I become interested in all this? My family, I grew up with family who loved cooking, homesteading and gardening. Both of my great grandmas (that I was blessed to know) were wonderful cooks and fed their family delicious from scratch food. They also enjoyed gardening and raising their own animals. My great grandpa loved gardening and I enjoyed getting to spend many hours working in the garden with him.

He just naturally had a green thumb and I learned so much from him. I am so thankful for the time I had with him and all I learned from him. My Papaw learned from him and also kept a big garden. He also taught me so much about gardening and I am thankful that we still get to work on tending our big garden together. He and my Nana also started my love for chickens, they had them for many years and then allowed me to look through the catalog and pick out my very own chicks. After that I was hooked and I have been raising chickens ever since. Nana also helped instill my love for cooking, taught me her very loved old fashioned apple pie recipe and worked many hours in the garden with me. My Mom and Dad, more than I can ever begin to list here but as for what fits in this story both mom and dad worked in the garden with me from a young age and taught me so much. Dad and I took on the new adventure of raising goats together and learned so much. Mom was the one who taught me how to cook, she got me in the kitchen from the time I was just a baby and taught me so, so much. I am so thankful for her teaching me and starting my love for cooking.

I first started a food blog more than 5 years ago and have had a couple different websites over that time. Now I am here and I am excited to begin sharing again.
