I will slowly be starting to share my favorite tried and true recipes that I have previously shared on my past blogs and/or on my Facebook of YouTube. I thought I would start with my favorite homemade bread recipes. I have shared this recipe countless times on my social media and it is my most used bread recipe in our home. It is so easy and a crowd pleaser, even the picky eaters and kids love this bread.

Why do I make all our bread at home? Aside from the fact that there is just something so calming and enjoyable about making bread I prefer it because it is much healthier for you, made without all the unnecessary chemicals and using higher quality ingredients. Store bought bread is made with non organic wheat which is sprayed with glyphosate which is the active ingredient in round up and a known carcinogen. Along with a laundry list of other ingredients that cause adverse health effects such as seed oils, and countless preservatives and chemicals. Don’t get me wrong there are good store bough bread options out there made with high quality ingredients but those tend to be harder to find and much more expensive. A store bought loaf of organic bread is over $5 but this homemade recipe made with organic ingredients is less than $2 a loaf. Now comes the question, but isn’t white bread bad for you? The answer is a bit tricky. I will do a whole post soon in the in depth differences and benefits of whole wheat but today I will give the short answer. White bread does have the nutrients stripped from it in the process of making white flour. It no longer has the vitamins and minerals that whole wheat has but it can still be enjoyed as part of a healthy diet in moderation. If you are consuming organic bread without all the additives then it is not necessarily bad for you it just isn’t providing much nutrients. So yes I consume bread but that is how I treat it. I use it for carbs in my balanced meal but add in other things to fill the gaps nutritionally. Now, would whole wheat be the better option? Yes but some people just don’t enjoy it so high quality white bread is much better for you than the low quality kind from the store. There are also times when quick energy is needed and white bread can fill those needs.
Now for the recipes…..
It is the easiest and quickest homemade bread you will ever make. I promise it’ll become your go to and most used bread recipe in no time.
I will walk you through the very simple process and the share the graphic you can save with the exact measurements and step by step instructions.
Start with warm water, about 105 degrees or feel like warm bath water. I recommend going off the temp until you get the feel for it. Add your yeast and sugar to warm water and stir. Allow to bloom for 5-10 minutes. If your yeast does not get bubbly and bloom DO NOT move on to the next step, your yeast is dead and your bread will not rise. If you find your yeast is dead it could be a number of reasons, your water could have been too hot or your yeast could be old. Yeast goes old much faster in the pantry. Unless you are baking often and going through a lot of yeast I suggest keeping your yeast in the freezer. After your yeast is bloomed add in flour, salt and oil. Stir until it starts to form a dough and then knead for a few minutes until it is a smooth cohesive dough. Shape loaf and place in a greased loaf pan. Bake at 350 for 25 minutes.
I hope you enjoy this easy bread recipe. Let me know what you think.
